SecurEmail : Insider's look
On your SecurEmail admin page you'll find 2 main items:
- The Mailbox which is the physical container for your messages
- The associated email addresses (or aliases).
Mailboxes are indeed the entities containing your email. These are not just plain containers where your email would sit unprotected but instead, are rather sophisticated armored storage units.
The email addresses (or aliases) are in fact virtual addresses you can freeely link or unlink to/from your Mailbox (within your set limits) without actually affecting the content of your Mailbox. There is already a default address activated and linked to your account (pxd___@celomail.net).
You cannot modify or remove this default address. It is however eaiser to use more personalized email addresses, thus the reason for aliases.
SecurEmail is not just an email system, it's a revolution (Sorry, Steve, we forgot you kinda trademarked that one ...). SecurEmail is designed around several modules, the most important ones are listed below:
-
SecureWeb
The public secured interface to SecurEmail. Several web front servers will allow you to access your mailboxes. These servers do not store or retain any data. Information is never comitted to disk or any other fixed medium (actually they are diskless systems for the most part). When a connection is established, data are requested from SecureSwitch servers and fetched through a secured encrypted tunnel before being sent to your browser over an HTTPS 256bits enrypted connection.
SecureSwitch
These servers are the heart of SecurEmail system. They process data using several proprietary algorithms to ensure a virtually unbreakable protection. Every piece of information you send is actually encoded a first time, splitted in several blocks, random data added to confuse even more things, then encrypted again and sent away to several SecureStore servers for storage. And since we are a bit paranoid, data is processed in parallel by at least two SecureSwitch units that must agree on the outcome before comitting the resulting blocks to storage.
-
SecureStore
Long term secured storage units. These servers have no direct contact with the internet, have no public IP addresses, are located in several and (ever changing) locations in different countries and are closely monitored.
-
Celomail.net
Is our domain exclusively reserved to our SecurEmail customers. The name comes from the Latin "celo" which means "secret, concealed".

Large files safekeeping - Virtual Digital Vault
SecurEmail is not designed to keep large files (such as video).
We will offer in Q1/Q2 2011 a dedicated stgorage system for digital files of any size, truly a virtual vault with associated services. Several plans and safety levels will be avaiable.
Stay tuned for more inforamation.
